EVERY DAY BEFORE SCHOOL, I would slip two whole wheat waffles in the toaster, anxiously waiting for them to turn golden brown. Then, I’d slowly drizzle Mrs. Butterworth’s on top tilting each waffle back and forth until every pocket was equally filled to the brim with maple syrup.
Now you may think I performed that exacting ritual daily to achieve some sort of bizarre structure in my life. But I was a messy, disorganized kid who’s idea of structure was showing up 15 minutes late and starting homework a half past last minute.
The real reason I slaved over my waffles each morning was for that, moment of bliss. You know what I’m talking about. When that perfect bite hits your tongue and you feel as if you’ve landed in Heaven. A gooey, sweet, maple, wheat Heaven — in my case — that never failed to start the day off right.
Granted, it took many failed attempts before discovering the ratios behind that perfect bite. But once I did — once I realized I could indeed create the perfect waffle — it became my mission to duplicate that bliss in every aspect of life. And not just my own. I wanted to help everyone, everywhere get the maximum enjoyment from life so much so that when I studied abroad I was jokingly referred to as a “walking advert.”
Of course, I’ve made one big discovery since my grade school days. Back then, I would have told you there was only one way to make the perfect waffle. But not anymore. I’ve learned there is no one size fits all in life. We each have our own version of perfect, and I promise to help you find yours.
I PROMISE TO DO whatever it takes — extensive research, thorough questioning, diligent testing — to develop the best, easiest and most foolproof ways to bring those moments of true bliss to your life, starting with the ones at home.
Thank you ever so much for your time and faith,
